Welcome to the official website of the Centurion Chess Club (CCC). The purpose of this website is to provide a service to the members of the CCC and to promote sponsors of the CCC. The CCC strives to provide its members with up to date news and information regarding the club and its events. Subsequently we invite all members of the CCC to participate in making contributions towards the content of this website in the form of photos, articles, news events and other general commentaries. We hope that this website will build on the huge success that the CCC has reached since its establishment.
The CCC gathers on Thursday evenings at 19:30 in Shop 27, in Miracle Park business center ( click for a map ) . A large part of the strength of the club can be attributed to these gatherings, where the level of chess is of a high standard. The dedication of the members of the club to welcome new players (young and old, male or female, black or white, beginner or advanced) and make them feel at ease, while encouraging and supporting their chess enthusiasm gives the club a unique atmosphere and contributes towards building the internal strength of the club. We would like to invite everyone to come and join us. Use the calendar provided in the navigation bar to see what’s happening!

| Condolences in passing of Johan (Krappie) Nel to his family - Monday, April 05, 2010It is with great sadness to inform the Centurion Chess Club of the tragic passing of Johan ( Krappie) Nel on Friday 2 April 2010. Krappie and another man tried to rescue his son from the sea while on vacation for easter weekend at Warner Beach near Amanzimtoti . We as the Centurion Chess Club extend our condolences to his wife, children, family and friends . We are sad about Krappie's passing but we are thankful for the time he was allowed to enrich our lives and the wonderful memories he leaves behind. We will miss him.

| New Venue for Club eveneings. - Wednesday, November 18, 2009The new venue is in a business park call Miracle Park, in an as yet unnamed street, just off Old Johannesburg road. Directions are really simple. Traveling south on Old Johannesburg road, go past Lenchen ave, and take the first right after Lenchen. Signs put up here, indicates this road as Lenchen too, but maps indicate the road as unnamed. This road ends in Miracle park. The venue is number 27, a coffee shop.

| Johan Steenkamp won the CCC open 2008 - Monday, May 05, 2008Johan Steenkamp won the Fide rated Centurion Chess Open tournament 2008 with a score of 6 out of 7 games played over the weekend of 30 April to 4 May.
Danie Louw finished 3rd with the last deciding game against Johan.

| The A team won ! for a record 7th time. - August 2007 - Monday, August 13, 2007Its official! The A-team of the CCC has won the 2007 Gauteng Chess League Premier Division for a record seventh time !!!!!. This is a mammoth accomplishment and congratulations should be extended to the A-team and the other members of the club who supported them. This exceed the record for the most consecutive wins by a team in the Premier division. Congratulations ! |
